Hawaiian Getaway for the Whole Family!

Not too long ago, I had the great pleasure of taking my Mom, daughter and cousin on a family vacation getaway.  I wanted to share our trip, in case you may be looking for the perfect go-to locale in Hawaii that's great for kids, adults and teenagers!

We stayed at the Disney Aulani Resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii and it was the trip of a lifetime!  As you can see from the picture above, our room had the most amazing view of the ocean and the entire resort.

When we got to Hawaii, we were instantly greeted by the resort staff and got beautiful leis and tropical drinks for our shuttle ride to the resort.  We were so excited to see our room and Isabella was especially eager to meet Mickey!

Our beautiful room was an ocean view suite - and we were impressed with our huge balcony which overlooked everything!

It was so wonderfully fulfilling to be able to take my mother and my cousin Nina on their very first trip to Hawaii!

Upon arrival, we laid out our plans for the week which included going on a boat to see the Diamond Head volcano, going snorkeling, paddle boating, dining at fine restaurants, shopping and most importantly spending quality time with all of the Disney characters!

On the first day, Isabella was already chumming it up with Mickey and Minnie!

We even got to have breakfast with all of the Disney characters every morning at the resort "all you can eat breakfast!"  At the character breakfast, we got the chance to get our photo taken with Mickey.

If you are planning on taking a trip that you would like to be inclusive for adults and kids of all ages, Disney's Aulani resort is the perfect option.

Below are pictures of us enjoying all of the activities in Ko Olina at the resort.  We spent 5 days at Aulani and our last 2 days in Waikiki at the beautiful Westin Moana Surfrider - a luxury hotel in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the beach - perfect for teenagers and young Moms (like me who love to walk the beaches, fine dine at the best restaurants and get a surf session in)!

We leave you with the fantastic view we had of all of Waikiki from our room at the Westin Moana Surfrider hotel.  We hope you enjoyed seeing pics of our 7 day trip in Hawaii and wish you the best Hawaiian vacation for you and yours!!

OOTD - Back to Basics!

Today's "Outfit of the Day" is a simple go-to outfit that works for any occasion.  Here I wore it to a couple of day meetings (I threw on a white blazer for a meeting that required more professional attire); then I kept it on at night while I attended an LA Live Talk.

You can get these basics anywhere.  Here I am wearing a pair of my most comfortable jeans (Joe’s Jeans), a blush top from Nordstrom (BP), nude heeled sandals (Banana Republic), a dual-colored large leather wristlet (Banana Republic), a Gucci Icon ring (Gucci), and a diamond and gold triangle necklace (also from Nordstrom).

Sometimes less is more ladies!  Let your natural beauty shine through when you get back to basics!

OOTD: Casual Friday!

So this is my first post on my new website and I am so excited to start sharing soooo much more!  I had been holding off on posting because I was in the process of changing directions with the site.  Now that the site is complete and live, I thought I'd start with a regular post that I plan to feature weekly (at minimum 1) - an Outfit of the Day post!

So to begin, I though I'd start with an outfit I would generally wear for work.  Given I have a flexible work schedule (I own my own company and I'm a multi-media journalist), I usually dress up a bit but not too overly dressed - more business casual.  Here I am wearing one of my staples, one of my fave tops - my black turtleneck body suit from Topshop and a skirt I've had forever from Bebe (I'm pretty sure they don't make it anymore but they have lots of great pencil skirts for night and day).  I am also rocking some extremely affordable and adorable shoes I got from Maykool (and while they were very inexpensive, the quality of the strap somewhat reflected that).  Regardless, I rigged the strap and made them work and I still think they are adorbs!  If I have a long day of meetings, however, I opt for a wide heeler with more support because these shoes are not that comfortable - cute and doable for a date night - but for work meetings all day, not so much!  Overall, this outfit was so easy, kept me warm in this weird weather (sunny but with a breeze and I'm almost always cold) and worked perfectly from day to night!

Isabella and I had the beautiful fortune of getting away, right in our backyard, at the Omni Dallas Hotel!  In early celebration of Mother’s Day, the Omni Dallas invited us to experience the best of the best: their luxe Presidential suite with in-room dining, access to the rooftop pool, a spa-day at Mokara Spa and the most delicious meals ever at Texas Spice, one of many of their fabulous restaurants!

When we first got to the suite, we were like kids in a candy store!  The amazing suite opened onto a gorgeous peek-a-boo rock fireplace overlooking the most grand living area with the best views of all of Dallas.  All of the rooms in the suite had floor-to-ceiling windows with views of downtown Dallas and the most iconic bridges, buildings, highways and skyline.

Isabella and I wasted no time getting comfortable and taking in all of Dallas, while enjoying Mommy and Me time!

Even the extra bathroom had the most magnificent view with perfect selfie lighting!

And the master suite bathroom was my and Izzy’s favorite!  I was excited to see the white marble, deep jacuzzi bathtub (with visions of a relaxing soak in mind!) and Isabella loved the full length mirrors all over the huge bathroom with walk-in closet – perfect for a fashionista like Izzy!

The minute I laid eyes on the master bedroom bed – I was in heaven!  The bedroom also had floor-to-ceiling windows, with a beautiful enclave seating area to sit separately and have lunch or enjoy your fave show.  As you can see, I was just excited to finally relax with my little one!

Of course Izzy had to test out the bed for “jump-ability!”  The Omni Dallas gets an A+ so far!

After relaxing in our room our first day, Izzy and I decided to explore the hotel and it’s many dining options.  With a full day scheduled, we decided to order in, watch a movie and take advantage of our luxurious digs and get some rest!

The next morning Izzy was able to order something extra special for Mommy when she put out our card for a delicious breakfast.  The best part about staying at a luxury hotel like Omni Dallas is the no cooking and cleaning part for this Mama!

We got to have breakfast in bed and watch the sunrise with the most beautiful view ever!

With luxury living like this, gratitude and smiles come easy!

After breakfast in bed, Izzy and I decided to get all dolled up and explore the hotel more.  First stop, the fancy rooftop pool – with more great views!

Being the fashionista that I am, I couldn’t help but take the opportunity to use this stunning backdrop for a couple of pics!

Izzy insisted she dip her toes in the heated pool in anticipation of swimming later in the day and she almost took Mommy in with her!

We agreed we’d go swimming late-night under the stars and city lights, and so jaunted over to Texas Spice to enjoy the best food ever!

At Texas Spice, we indulged in all our little hearts desired!  I fell in love with all of the made-from-scratch organic entrees and I especially liked their homemade Texas style potato salad.  Izzy, on the other hand, went for the buffet and was especially excited about all of the dessert buffet options, naturally!

After lunch, the indulgence continued and we hit up the ultra luxe Mokara Spa for manicures and pedicures.  If you know me and Izzy, ya know we love our mani/pedis!

It was a perfect Mother/Daugther moment – to be able to relax, pamper ourselves and indulge in a day of beauty.

And Izzy never met a spa she didn’t love!  Like Mother, like Daughter!  😉

My little peanut was so wonderfully happy and content to be able to spend time with me and set up a weekend so perfect as an early Mother’s Day gift!  This staycation definitely goes down in the books as best Mother/Daugther getaway ever!  Thank you Omni Dallas Hotel!

When you’re a Gal on the go, sometimes the simplest answer to a night out on the town is an easy go-to, like the LBD (Little Black Dress)!  This is one of my faves because it’s simple with a touch of detail – the top of the straps are leather and the outside lining of the pockets have leather too.  I got this LBD at Banana Republic but it looks as though Banana no longer carries it.  Thankfully I was able to find it online (here on E-bay )!  I decided to pair the dress with a cute shoe (and you all know I am a sucker for a wrap-ankle shoe – this one is from Topshop – Nordstrom).  To complete the look, I added a small black clutch (from Gucci).  I love this bag because it fits my cards and make-up; and it has a gold chain, so I can easily wear it on my shoulder or as a cross-body bag (here the chain is in the purse), and it isn’t a logo-overloaded bag which is so not my style!  All in all, the outfit is simple, classic and refined – in line with my style preferences and perfect for a night out on the town!

So I am OBSESSED with my white jeans!  I wear them always and with just about everything!  But the big debate has been, should one wear white after Labor Day (aka in the Winter)?  My vote is a big fat SI!  Yes!  The times, they are a changing, and one can now dress up a pair of white jeans with a cute warm sweater, a flannel, or even a gorgeous thick jacket with a great scarf.  And not one to let go of my signature colors (black and white, if ya haven’t caught on yet), I love pairing my white jeans with black, gray, nude or neutral tops and a pop of color!  Here I pulled together a very quick outfit (literally, as I was heading out the door to shoot with my friend Danny, I was already wearing my white jeans and a white tank (under the sweater) and since it was cold I threw on this nude sweater).  I then added a great scarf for a pop of color!  If ya want to get a similar easy look, just pair an oversized sweater (from Don’t Ask Why – AE) with a pair of white jeans (from American Eagle) and a cool scarf (I got mine from Aldo a year ago – here is a similar version – Aldo).  Then I also added my current favorite pair of heels (from Topshop – Nordstrom) and a neutral purse I like to throw on when I’m wearing nude, tan or neutral colored shoes (from Tory Burch).  It was very last minute thrown together, but I think it works for the Mom on the go who still wants to wear her white pants in Winter and a cute heel to dress it up!  So familia, tell me what you think!  White in the Winter?  As my grandmother use to ask when trying on an outfit, “Dime, Si or No?”  So tell me, Yes or No?
